Translation of children’s books

Over the years, I have translated a large number of children’s books into Italian. It’s creative, fun, and often challenging work – with so many factors to bear in mind, age group, subject matter, puns and onomatopoeia, and much more besides...

An Italian child brought up, say, in Rome’s Trastevere is extremely unlikely to have the same cultural references as a child brought up in London’s East End. Of course, a queen is a queen, a cab is a cab and a crab is a crab. Or is it?

My translations are done with just the right balance of precision and playfulness, to ensure that each and every young reader makes the most of their experience and feels the magic with every page they turn. Because magic knows no borders.

Adriana has been translating for Usborne for many years now and I have always found her to be reliable and professional. Her work is thorough and accurate and she has a flair for translating story collections. She always respects deadlines and is a pleasure to work with. Carla Brown, Usborne
