In three words: passionate, creative, committed.
Put these three qualities together and you might begin to see why I specialise in creative translation and work in the fields of art, media, advertising, and children’s literature.
You bring your text to the table. I bring over two decades of translation experience and 15 years as a lecturer in translation and audiovisual translation.
But it’s about more than just passion, as my professional memberships and qualifications attest:
Translator, Transcreator, Subtitler.
Passionate Creative Committed
Why did I get into translation, and why did translation get into me? For the sheer pleasure it has always given me. The thrill of finding my way through a labyrinthine forest of meanings, diving into the text, coming up for air and fresh ideas, and diving back in again. This is what makes me passionate.
I don’t get easily fazed. I can do quirky. My long-standing fascination with the intricacies of language results in translations that convey the power behind the original words – be it to persuade, move, communicate or inspire. This is what makes me creative.
As a translator who loves her job, I always pull out all the stops to make sure the results shine and to deliver perfect satisfaction to my clients, all the while using my eagle eye to ensure that style, register, grammar and punctuation receive the exacting attention they deserve. This is what makes me committed.
